Disabled Tags/Placards For A  Permanent Disability

Effective January 1, 2006, Maryland MVA will only issue a combination of one disabled placard and/or one set of disabled tags; or two disabled placards.  Only one set of tags will be issued to a disabled person.  To obtain the disabled tags the disabled person must be an owner or co-owner of the vehicle.


To Obtain Disabled Parking Placards For A Permanent Disability:

1.  A disability certification must be on file with MVA
    A.  If not, the disability certification information must be completed and signed by the physician.
2.  The disabled person must sign the application form to receive the placards.
3.  It takes Norman's just one business day to obtain the disabled parking placard(s).



To Obtain Disabled Tags For A Permanent Disability:

1.  As of January 1, 2006 the disabled person must be an owner or co-owner of the vehicle.
2.  A disability certification must be on file with MVA.
    A. If not, the disability certification information must be completed and signed by the physician.
3.  The disabled perosn must sign the application form.
4.  All vehicle owner(s) must sign the application form.
5.  It takes Norman's just one business day to obtain the disabled tags.



Disabled Placard For A Temporary Disability

1.  Valid for up to six months
2.  A disability certification must be submitted at time of request.
    A.  The disability certification information must be completed and signed by the physician.
    B.  The temporary disabled person must sign the application form.
3.  Only one placard will be issued.
4.  It takes Norman's just one business day to obtain the temporary disabled placard.



Disabled Permanent Or Temporary Placard Was Lost Or Stolen:

1. Report the placard as stolen to your local police precinct and obtain a police report number.
2. You will need your driver's license and the police report number to obtain a new placard.


Disabled Tag(s) Were Lost Or Stolen:

1. Report the tag(s) as stolen to your local police precinct and obtain a police report number.
2. You will need your driver's license, police report number, and registration card in order to obtain a new set of disability tags.
3. It takes Norman's one business day to obtain the new disability tags.
