TITLE TRANSFER BETWEEN SPOUSES OR PARENT AND CHILD ARE EXCISE TAX AND MARYLAND SAFETY INSPECTION EXEMPT
Relationships include: SPOUSE to SPOUSE or to SELF and SPOUSE MOTHER and/or FATHER to SON or SON and DAUGHER-IN-LAW MOTHER and/or FATHER to DAUGHTER or DAUGHTER and SON-IN-LAW Mother and Father also include Stepmother and Stepfather. Son and Daughter also include Stepson and Stepdaughter, Adopted Son and Adopted Daughter. If last names are not the same, proof of relationship is required. Examples of acceptable proof: Birth Certificate Marriage License Divorce Decree Adoption Papers Court-Ordered Documents
VEHICLE CURRENTLY ON A MARYLAND TITLE
1. Maryland Title signed by all sellers (givers). 2. Maryland Security Interest Filing or a Lien Release Statement, if a lien is recorded on front of the Maryland title. 3. Gift Certification Form signed by all givers. 4. Current Mileage, if Maryland Safety Inspection is not required. 5. Proof of Relationship, if required. 6. Registration Card, if transferring tags: A. If unable to locate the registration card, Norman's will need to know the tag number, sticker number, and expiration date. You can obtain the expiration date from the physical tag. B. Class of vehicle must remain the same, with a few exceptions. Call Norman's for more information. C. Owner(s) must remain the same, with a few exceptions. Call Norman's for more information. 7. Insurance Information A. Company and binder or policy number. 8. Driver's License: A. With a Maryland driver's license and if all parties have the same last name, Norman's can issue new tags, stickers and registration or transfer existing tags in five to ten minutes. B. Without a Maryland driver's license or Maryland soundex number, it will take Norman's just one business day to process and obtain your tags and registration.

SISTER(S) to BROTHER(S) or vice versa MOTHER-IN-LAW and/or FATHER-IN-LAW to DAUGHTER-IN LAW or SON-IN-LAW or vice versa GRANDPARENT(S) to GRANDCHILD GRANDCHILD to GRANDPARENT(S) Sister and Brother also include Half Sister/Half Brother and Step Brother/Step Sister. VEHICLE CURRENTLY ON A MARYLAND TITLE

1. Maryland Title signed by all sellers (givers).

2. Maryland Security Interest Filing or a Lien Release Statement, if a lien is recorded on front of the Maryland title.

3. Gift Certification Form signed by all givers.

4. Current Mileage, if Maryland Safety Inspection is not required.

5. Maryland Safety Inspection, if required:
    A. If the vehicle is a 1993 or newer. If not, see ANTIQUE TAGS Section.
    B. White copy is valid for 90 days from the date written on the certificate. If not recorded within 90 days, the vehicle must be re-inspected.
    C. The gold copy can be used within 30 days, only after the white copy has been recorded. Call Norman's for more information.

7. Registration Card, if transferring tags:
    A. If unable to locate the registration card, Norman's will need to know the tag number, sticker number, and expiration date. You can obtain the expiration date from the physical tag.

8. Insurance Information
    A. Company and binder or policy number.

9. Driver's License:
    A. With a Maryland driver's license, Norman's can issue new tags, stickers and registration or transfer existing tags in five to ten minutes.
    B. Without a Maryland driver's license or Maryland soundex number, it will take Norman's just one business day to process and obtain your tags and registration.

TRANSFER BETWEEN AUNT/UNCLE TO NIECE/NEPHEW IS TAX EXEMPT

Aunt and/or Uncle can transfer to a Niece and/or Nephew if:

1. Vehicle currently on a Maryland title.
2. Aunt and Uncle are at least 65 years of age.

Niece and/or Nephew can not transfer to Aunt and/or Uncle.

Required on all used vehicles with the exception of Historic vehicles (see ANTIQUE TAGS section), Street Rod vehicles (see ANTIQUE TAGS section), some Gift Title Transfer exceptions (see GIFT TITLE TRANSFER section) and Farm Area vehicles. Call Norman's for more information.

IF VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN TITLED IN MARYLAND:

A gift title transfer will not apply. See TITLE TRANSFER section.

IF VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TITLED IN MARYLAND:
