TITLE TRANSFER FROM A PRIVATE PARTY |
IF SELLER HAS A MARYLAND TITLE YOU WILL NEED:
|

1. Maryland Title signed off by all sellers.
2. Maryland Security Interest Filing or a Lien Release Statement, if there is a lien recorded on the front of the Maryland Title.
3. Maryland Safety Inspection Certificate:
A. Required for all used vehicles with the exception of Historic vehicles (see ANTIQUES TAGS section), Street Rod vehicles (see ANTIQUES TAG section), some Gift Title Transfer exceptions (see GIFT TITLE TRANSFER section), and Farm Area vehicles. Call Norman's for more information.
B. White copy is valid for 90 days from the date written on the certificate. If not recorded within 90 days, the vehicles must be re-inspected.
C. The gold copy can be used within 30 days, but only after the white copy has been recorded. Call Norman's for more information.
D. If the vehicle is physically located in or outside of Maryland and does not have valid tags to transport to a Maryland Safety Inspection Station, see TEMPORARY TAG section.
4. Notarized Bill of Sale:
A. Required if the vehicle is a 2002 or newer.
B. All seller(s) and all buyer(s) must sign in front of a Notary Public. Norman's has a Notary Public on staff at all times.
C. Without a notarized bill of sale, buyer will be taxed on the higher of either the book value or the sales price of the vehicle. Call Norman's for more information.
5. Lienholder Information, if borrowing money to purchase the vehicle:
A. Lienholder's name and address.
B. Amount and date of the loan.
6. Registration Card, if transferring Maryland Tags:
A. If unable to locate the registration card, Norman's will need to know the tag number, sticker number, and expiration date from the physical tag.
B. Class of vehicle must remain the same, with a few exceptions. Call Norman's for more information.
C. Owner(s) must remain the same, with a few exceptions. Call Norman's for more information.

7. Insurance Information:
A. Company and binder or policy number.
8. Driver's License:
A. With a Maryland driver's license or a Maryland soundex number, Norman's can issue new tags, stickers, and registration or transfer your existing tags in five to ten minutes.
B. Without a Maryland driver's license or a Maryland soundex number, it will take Norman's just one business day to process and obtain your tags and/or registration.

IF SELLER HAS AN OUT-OF-STATE TITLE YOU WILL NEED: |
1. Out-of-State Title, signed off by all sellers.
2. Lien Release Statement, if there is a lien recorded on the front of the title and it is not signed or stamped off.
3. Maryland Safety Inspection Certificate:
A. Required on all used vehicles with the exception of Historic Vehicles (see ANTIQUE TAGS section), Street Rod vehicles (see ANTIQUE TAGS section), some Gift TtitleTransfer exceptions (see GIFT TITLE TRANSFER section), and Farm Area vehicles. Call Norman's for more information.

TITLE TRANSFER FROM A LICENSED DEALER |
|
IF DEALER PROVIDES A CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN, A MARYLAND TITLE OR AN OUT-OF-STATE TITLE YOU WILL NEED:
|
|
1. Certificate of Title or Certificate of Origin and all paperwork the dealership supplied to you.
2. Maryland Safety Inspection:
A. Unless the vehicle is brand new and the title document is a Certificate of Origin, with a few exceptions. Call Norman's for more information.
B. Unless the vehicle is a 1988 or older and you register as a Historic or Street Rod vehicl (see ANTIQUE TAGS section).
C. Unless teh vehicle is registered as a Farm Area vehicle. Call Norman's for more information.
D. White copy is valid for 6 months from the date written on the certificate, if sold from a Maryland dealer.
E. White copy is valid for 90 days from the date written on the certificate, if sold from an out-of-state dealer.
F. If sold uninspected and the out-of-state dealership issued a temporary tag:
1. Obtain a Maryland Safety Inspection while the temporary tag is valid.
G. If sold uninspected and no dealer temporary tag was issued:
1. See TEMPORARY TAG section.

IF THE LESSOR PROVIDES A MARYLAND TITLE YOU WILL NEED:

2. Maryland Security Interest Filing or a Lien Release Statement, if there is a lien recorded on the front of the Maryland title.
3. Maryland Safety Inspection Certificate:
A. White copy is valid for 90 days from the date written on the certificate. If not recorded within the 90 days, the vehicle must be reinspected.
4. Lienholder Information, if borrowing money to purchase the vehicle:
A. Lienholder's name and address.
B. Amount and date of the loan.
5. Copy of the Lease Contract, showing you as lessee.
6. Insurance Information:
A. Company and binder or policy number.
7. Driver's License:
A. With a Maryland driver's license or a Maryland soundex number, Norman's can issue tags, stickers and registration in five to ten minutes.
B. Without a Maryland driver's license or a Maryland soundex number, it will take one business day to process and obtain your tags and/or registration.
